Responsibilities:

Depending on project requirements, this role may function as a primary Piping Discipline Lead or as the senior design QA/QC authority. In all cases, the individual is expected to exercise independent technical judgment and to own the quality of piping design outcomes.

As a PIPING DESIGN TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST, you must be capable of serving either as a Project / Discipline Lead or as a Senior Design QA/QC Lead, depending on project needs. Overview

Weâre seeking an Engineering Technologist I to support Distribution Grid Operations by helping maintain the performance and reliability of control center systems and field devices. This role focuses on managing and supporting Distribution SCADA devices and related platforms such as SCADA, DMS, OMS, and other distribution control center (DCC) systems. Core operational activities include switching and control, Volt/Var optimization, and self-healing support.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor & maintain substation and feeder SCADA devices; identify corrective actions and initiate maintenance requests.
Operate field devices as needed to support troubleshooting, restoration efforts, and field activities.
Commission new and replacement SCADA devices and support device deployment activities.
Assist with installation, programming, and maintenance of process system equipment supporting SCADA/DMS/OMS environments.
Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and communications issues across real-time distribution process systems, networks, and communications technologies.
Ensure devices are accurately modeled into control center systems and support effective device utilization/relocation as needed.
Provide technical input to identify, analyze, and resolve operational and system issues.
Support planning and execution of work through effective estimating, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring.
Prepare technical documentation (reports, correspondence, calculations, sketches) and maintain accurate records/files.
Conduct engineering/technical studies and analysis as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
OR Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) with 0â2 years of related experience
Working knowledge or ability to quickly gain proficiency with:
- SCADA / DMS / OMS concepts and operations
- Field control equipment and distribution operations support practices
Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the electric utility industry
Experience and/or knowledge with Distribution SCADA and Distribution Management Systems (DMS)

Years of experience: 2+
Degree requirement: Associateâs degree in engineering technology or related field that provided skillsets is required.

Additional Technical Skills

Ability to follow provided test plans for environmental tests: thermal chambers, pressure vessels, vibration tables, etc… Plus if candidate can take on ownership of creating environmental test plans with engineering review.
Ability to document tests results in Microsoft Word, Excel or other documentation method for communication / review by engineering team.
Ability to listen to work requests and work priorities based on multiple engineers making request, communicating sequence and timing to confirm acceptance and priority set properly
Ability to create harnesses based on documentation (schematics for example) from engineers. Ability to create harnesses with minimal engineering input is beneficial.
Ability to use standard hand tools for mechanical assembly or disassembly of mechanical and electrical assemblies
Light fabrication capabilities with sheet metal or other methods of assembling / solving a problem is desired.

Past experience with thermal couple instrumentation, bonus if it was related to thermal evaluation of electronic assemblies.
Willingness to learn or already has PCB smt solder skillsets
Willingness to learn domestic and international shipping regulations and work within the organization and with the team to accomplish shipping needs
Willingness to learn procurement systems to purchase lab needs, either buying miscellaneous hand tools or consumables, to ordering rental equipment for the team.
