Contract Manager

Duration: 3 years
Location: Hybrid - Charlotte, NC

About the Role
  • Candidate will be responsible for managing/negotiating equipment alliance agreements (hydro equipment and GSU transformers).
  • Their legal department is drafting terms and conditions documents for this negotiation. Contract Manager will negotiate on companies behalf.
  • In addition, candidate will be working with legal council and reviewing all redlines under the terms and conditions and negotiating those redlines.
  • Negotiations typically take between 6-9 months for hydro alliances.
  • These contracts are in the multimillions. 
  • Accountable for higher level Contract Management duties for Services, Equipment Supply, and materials.
This includes, but is not limited to: (1) Align behaviors to contractually binding obligations; (2) review and assess existing contract language; (3) review compliance to non-commercial contract terms; and (4) review compliance to commercial terms; and (5) develop metrics to and monitor contractor performance. Enforce vendor compliance with contract terms and conditions such that all deliverables meet contract requirements. Ensure contract compliance with Supply Chain policy. Responsible for managing contract provisions and administering contract change orders with stakeholders to ensure successful execution of contract requirements and options.

The CW will lead the assessment of opportunities, internal supply chains, and supply markets, ultimately developing, executing, and institutionalizing the sourcing strategy. A proven track record in sourcing and negotiating complex, high-value categories is essential. Individuals in this role are expected to manage their work with minimal supervision, develop proficient skills, and work independently on complex projects or issues. They should be fully competent in using concepts and procedures to identify problems, develop solutions, and take action to resolve them.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Strategy Development: Collaborating with key customers and cross-functional teams to develop sourcing strategies for complex, high-value materials, equipment, or services, including regional and enterprise-wide initiatives.

2. Strategy Execution: Developing requests for quotations and proposals, analyzing supplier responses, and working with cross-functional teams to determine the best solutions for awarding contracts and agreements.

3. Negotiation: Engaging with middle and upper-level management of suppliers and manufacturers, demonstrating a proficient understanding of companies contractual terms and conditions. This includes driving cost avoidance and savings through supplier negotiations and process efficiencies.

4. Change Management: Participating in change management strategies with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of sourcing strategies.

5. Relationship Management: Managing supplier relationships at a strategic level and maintaining effective interfaces with internal business partners, external customers, and suppliers.

6. Supplier Management: Overseeing post-award supplier activities, settlements, claims, or disputes, and maintaining purchase orders and agreements. This includes handling invoice mismatches, price changes, amendments, and change orders.

7. Subject Matter Expertise: Staying abreast of commodities, sources of supply, diversity opportunities, and market conditions that may impact future procurement for assigned categories.

Additionally, this position supports the Regulated and Renewables Energy (RRE) business unit project managers with strategic sourcing initiatives for equipment bid events and purchase order contracts. It involves managing Alliance Agreements and Master Service Agreements, including category management.

Required/Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree + 5-10 years related work experience in Supply Chain

Desired Qualifications
- Certified Purchasing Manager and/or Certified Professional in Supply Management
-Major utility experience supporting projects and outages and capital projects
- Sourcing engineered equipment for power plants

- Technical working knowledge of power plant equipment
- Operational Excellence
