Job Description

Mechanical Engineer 2 - Air Systems Shop Support

Duration: 2 years
Location: Onsite - Lafayette, IN

Typical task breakdown:

Shop floor investigation of the issue
Root cause investigation
Develop potential solutions
Review with Design Engineer
Work with the shop to document and implement solutions
Potential follow up with suppliers / design engineers or modification of prints

Work environment:

Team is in the Engineering area of the office
Typical desks are in groups of 4 related engineers
Open work environment with frequent collaboration with peers
Open communication is expected

Education & Experience Required:

Years of experience: 1 to 3+ years in Engineering
Degree requirement: BS in Engineering / Technology

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal communication skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints

Additional Technical Skills
(Required)

Basic engine component and system level knowledge & experience
Strong written communication skills
- Skilled in MS Office Applications
Demonstrated leadership skills to lead team meetings

(Desired)

CREO 3D modeling (or similar) and simulation skill set
Component level design experience with castings, fabrications & injection molded polymers
Engine component and system level design experience

Soft Skills
(Required)

Ability to interact with shop floor technicians
Strong organization and time management skills

(Desired)

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

Demonstrated capability to be successful in an engineering role with minimal formal processes & procedures (self-starter)
